Narrative:
I was flying an small transport and was approaching my destination airport, orl. After being switched over from orl approach to orl tower, I was cleared a visibility approach, straight into runway 25 following an small aircraft and I was #4 to land. The tower suggested that I slow down and the s-turns were approved. So I did exactly that. After getting an update on the position of the small aircraft, I realized that the small aircraft would not be clear of the runway by the time I landed. At that time the tower said that runway 31 was available. I said that runway 31 would be fine and began to turn base to it. At that point I realized I was too close to the airport to safely land on runway 31. So I continued to do a go around for runway 25 and the tower cleared me to follow the small aircraft that I was previously following, for he was doing touch and go lndgs on runway 25. While keeping the small aircraft in sight, as previously told to do by the tower, I turned crosswind and then downwind. While on downwind, I overtook the small aircraft on my right and about 300-400' lower than him. The tower then announced that they would call my base turn and I would be #1 to land, and that the small aircraft would extend his downwind. Seconds later the tower said I was cleared to turn my base at my discretion. I acknowledged and delayed my turn for about 20 seconds to further separate myself and the small aircraft. While keeping the small aircraft in sight, I then turned to my base leg and the small aircraft passed over my rear about 400-500' higher than I. At that time the small aircraft announced on the radio that he had to take 'evasive actions' to avoid hitting me. He then followed up by asking for my tail #. I then landed and taxied in. The reason for writing this report was because the small aircraft announced on the radio that he had to take evasive action to avoid hitting me. From my standpoint, I overtook him from the left, I was lower than him, the tower had cleared me to turn to my base leg and I was in constant sep with the small aircraft. Therefore, I feel my judgement and decisions did not make for any unsafe conditions. I do feel that perhaps I was closer to the small aircraft than he would have liked, but by no means did I make for a hazardous situation.

Title: SMA PLT REPORTS OR COMPLAINS OF AN NMAC WHICH MIGHT BE A POTENTIAL CONFLICT WITH LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING AN SMT AND WAS APCHING MY DEST ARPT, ORL. AFTER BEING SWITCHED OVER FROM ORL APCH TO ORL TWR, I WAS CLRED A VIS APCH, STRAIGHT INTO RWY 25 FOLLOWING AN SMA AND I WAS #4 TO LAND. THE TWR SUGGESTED THAT I SLOW DOWN AND THE S-TURNS WERE APPROVED. SO I DID EXACTLY THAT. AFTER GETTING AN UPDATE ON THE POS OF THE SMA, I REALIZED THAT THE SMA WOULD NOT BE CLR OF THE RWY BY THE TIME I LANDED. AT THAT TIME THE TWR SAID THAT RWY 31 WAS AVAILABLE. I SAID THAT RWY 31 WOULD BE FINE AND BEGAN TO TURN BASE TO IT. AT THAT POINT I REALIZED I WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE ARPT TO SAFELY LAND ON RWY 31. SO I CONTINUED TO DO A GAR FOR RWY 25 AND THE TWR CLRED ME TO FOLLOW THE SMA THAT I WAS PREVIOUSLY FOLLOWING, FOR HE WAS DOING TOUCH AND GO LNDGS ON RWY 25. WHILE KEEPING THE SMA IN SIGHT, AS PREVIOUSLY TOLD TO DO BY THE TWR, I TURNED XWIND AND THEN DOWNWIND. WHILE ON DOWNWIND, I OVERTOOK THE SMA ON MY RIGHT AND ABOUT 300-400' LOWER THAN HIM. THE TWR THEN ANNOUNCED THAT THEY WOULD CALL MY BASE TURN AND I WOULD BE #1 TO LAND, AND THAT THE SMA WOULD EXTEND HIS DOWNWIND. SECS LATER THE TWR SAID I WAS CLRED TO TURN MY BASE AT MY DISCRETION. I ACKNOWLEDGED AND DELAYED MY TURN FOR ABOUT 20 SECS TO FURTHER SEPARATE MYSELF AND THE SMA. WHILE KEEPING THE SMA IN SIGHT, I THEN TURNED TO MY BASE LEG AND THE SMA PASSED OVER MY REAR ABOUT 400-500' HIGHER THAN I. AT THAT TIME THE SMA ANNOUNCED ON THE RADIO THAT HE HAD TO TAKE 'EVASIVE ACTIONS' TO AVOID HITTING ME. HE THEN FOLLOWED UP BY ASKING FOR MY TAIL #. I THEN LANDED AND TAXIED IN. THE REASON FOR WRITING THIS RPT WAS BECAUSE THE SMA ANNOUNCED ON THE RADIO THAT HE HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID HITTING ME. FROM MY STANDPOINT, I OVERTOOK HIM FROM THE LEFT, I WAS LOWER THAN HIM, THE TWR HAD CLRED ME TO TURN TO MY BASE LEG AND I WAS IN CONSTANT SEP WITH THE SMA. THEREFORE, I FEEL MY JUDGEMENT AND DECISIONS DID NOT MAKE FOR ANY UNSAFE CONDITIONS. I DO FEEL THAT PERHAPS I WAS CLOSER TO THE SMA THAN HE WOULD HAVE LIKED, BUT BY NO MEANS DID I MAKE FOR A HAZARDOUS SITUATION.
