Narrative:
The wingtip of or mdt X struck the wingtip of a parked mdt Y while parking on the ramp at dca. We were being directed by ground personnel at the time. As we were entering the ramp I told the captain to take it slow because it looked tight on my side. I then told him to stop but the momentum of the outside wing carried our wingtip into the other wingtip after hitting the brakes. These parking spaces are very tight even when the mdt's are parked correctly. It so happens the parked mdt Y was left of center in addition to being parked perpendicular instead of at an angle which would have given us more room (see diagram). In addition to these factors it would have helped to have a wing walker, the captain should have slowed more and I should have told him to stop earlier.

THESE PARKING SPACES ARE VERY TIGHT EVEN WHEN THE MDT'S ARE PARKED CORRECTLY. IT SO HAPPENS THE PARKED MDT Y WAS LEFT OF CTR IN ADDITION TO BEING PARKED PERPENDICULAR INSTEAD OF AT AN ANGLE WHICH WOULD HAVE GIVEN US MORE ROOM (SEE DIAGRAM). IN ADDITION TO THESE FACTORS IT WOULD HAVE HELPED TO HAVE A WING WALKER, THE CAPT SHOULD HAVE SLOWED MORE AND I SHOULD HAVE TOLD HIM TO STOP EARLIER.
