Narrative:
We were departing march AFB, ca, on the skyes 6 departure, runway 32. We were accomplishing heavy weight air refueling training with another tanker. After starting engines our #3 N2 gauge failed and we experienced a 30 min delay until maintenance could replace it. Our formation of 2 tankers then taxied for takeoff, and when we switched to tower, we asked for a deletion of the 5 mi turn restriction from the skyes 6, since we were heavy and had a 0 degree/ret speed of 277 KIAS. Tower then replied that we had just gotten clearance from ont for a cell takeoff, but that they couldn't accommodate a 5 mi turn deletion, and would like to delay. Since we were already 30 mins late due to maintenance, our mission was already compressed since we had to air refuel onload 50000 pounds of fuel from our wingman, then offload 120000 pounds back to our wingman, all before a rendezvous with another tanker. We opted to keep our slats extended, use 25 degree bank vs 15 degrees and fly the turn at our 0 degree flaps/slat extend speed of 241 KIAS, in order to make the 5 mi turn. We took off immediately, but due to the heavy takeoff weight and high outside temperature of 38 degrees C, we got an engine 'egt high' light on takeoff roll. Our student F/east was somewhat confused by the light and distracted the PF on his climb out. He delayed starting his 25 degree bank and we went outside the 5 mi limit.

Title: MIL TANKER EXCEEDED 5 MILE TURN AFTER TKOF.
Narrative: WE WERE DEPARTING MARCH AFB, CA, ON THE SKYES 6 DEP, RWY 32. WE WERE ACCOMPLISHING HVY WT AIR REFUELING TRNING WITH ANOTHER TANKER. AFTER STARTING ENGS OUR #3 N2 GAUGE FAILED AND WE EXPERIENCED A 30 MIN DELAY UNTIL MAINT COULD REPLACE IT. OUR FORMATION OF 2 TANKERS THEN TAXIED FOR TKOF, AND WHEN WE SWITCHED TO TWR, WE ASKED FOR A DELETION OF THE 5 MI TURN RESTRICTION FROM THE SKYES 6, SINCE WE WERE HEAVY AND HAD A 0 DEG/RET SPD OF 277 KIAS. TWR THEN REPLIED THAT WE HAD JUST GOTTEN CLRNC FROM ONT FOR A CELL TKOF, BUT THAT THEY COULDN'T ACCOMMODATE A 5 MI TURN DELETION, AND WOULD LIKE TO DELAY. SINCE WE WERE ALREADY 30 MINS LATE DUE TO MAINT, OUR MISSION WAS ALREADY COMPRESSED SINCE WE HAD TO AIR REFUEL ONLOAD 50000 LBS OF FUEL FROM OUR WINGMAN, THEN OFFLOAD 120000 LBS BACK TO OUR WINGMAN, ALL BEFORE A RENDEZVOUS WITH ANOTHER TANKER. WE OPTED TO KEEP OUR SLATS EXTENDED, USE 25 DEG BANK VS 15 DEGS AND FLY THE TURN AT OUR 0 DEG FLAPS/SLAT EXTEND SPD OF 241 KIAS, IN ORDER TO MAKE THE 5 MI TURN. WE TOOK OFF IMMEDIATELY, BUT DUE TO THE HVY TKOF WT AND HIGH OUTSIDE TEMP OF 38 DEGS C, WE GOT AN ENG 'EGT HIGH' LIGHT ON TKOF ROLL. OUR STUDENT F/E WAS SOMEWHAT CONFUSED BY THE LIGHT AND DISTRACTED THE PF ON HIS CLBOUT. HE DELAYED STARTING HIS 25 DEG BANK AND WE WENT OUTSIDE THE 5 MI LIMIT.
