Narrative:
Was 'cleared for the visual 36L, follow medium large transport on 2 mi final.' descending through 4000 ft at approximately 1500 FPM; at approximately 3400-3600 ft MSL I was scanning area while captain was keeping visual on the medium large transport when over the captain's shoulder in rear cockpit window, I saw an aircraft on a converging path at our altitude. The small aircraft was approximately 100 ft to 150 ft horizontally heading right at us. I immediately took evasive action down and to the right, recovered and completed the visual approach. Tower was asked about the target and they had not seen him until after our action. Apparently the aircraft was in the TCA with no transponder or communications and flying right across a busy approach path. Supplemental information from acn 183111. The first officer sighted a single engine small aircraft converging from our left. We were heading northeast, the small aircraft was heading southeast. And that the aircraft wasn't talking to them. They didn't know he was there. TCAS would've helped considerably, however we weren't equipped.

Title: NMAC.
Narrative: WAS 'CLRED FOR THE VISUAL 36L, FOLLOW MLG ON 2 MI FINAL.' DSNDING THROUGH 4000 FT AT APPROX 1500 FPM; AT APPROX 3400-3600 FT MSL I WAS SCANNING AREA WHILE CAPT WAS KEEPING VISUAL ON THE MLG WHEN OVER THE CAPT'S SHOULDER IN REAR COCKPIT WINDOW, I SAW AN ACFT ON A CONVERGING PATH AT OUR ALT. THE SMA WAS APPROX 100 FT TO 150 FT HORIZLY HDG R AT US. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK EVASIVE ACTION DOWN AND TO THE R, RECOVERED AND COMPLETED THE VISUAL APCH. TWR WAS ASKED ABOUT THE TARGET AND THEY HAD NOT SEEN HIM UNTIL AFTER OUR ACTION. APPARENTLY THE ACFT WAS IN THE TCA WITH NO XPONDER OR COMS AND FLYING R ACROSS A BUSY APCH PATH. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 183111. THE FO SIGHTED A SINGLE ENG SMA CONVERGING FROM OUR L. WE WERE HDG NE, THE SMA WAS HDG SE. AND THAT THE ACFT WASN'T TALKING TO THEM. THEY DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS THERE. TCAS WOULD'VE HELPED CONSIDERABLY, HOWEVER WE WEREN'T EQUIPPED.
