Narrative:
Flight departed lnfb and was cleared as filed (via flight plan). Iceland radio cleared us to climb to FL370 after 63N 40W and rerted after 62N 50W direct prawn, ydp (nain). I verified this with iceland. At this time the relief officer returned to the cockpit from his rest break. I departed the cockpit for my rest break as the first officer was setting up a step climb to FL370 at 40W. I reminded him to insert the rerte as well. I returned to the cockpit later to learn that the first officer had mistakenly inserted direct prawn after 40W instead of 50W. At 1400Z gander questioned our position. After the first officer and relief officer verified our position with gander, we were cleared direct to 61N 50W, prawn, nain.

Title: MISAPPLICATION OF COURSE CHANGE BY FO ON ATLANTIC FLT.
Narrative: FLT DEPARTED LNFB AND WAS CLRED AS FILED (VIA FLT PLAN). ICELAND RADIO CLRED US TO CLB TO FL370 AFTER 63N 40W AND RERTED AFTER 62N 50W DIRECT PRAWN, YDP (NAIN). I VERIFIED THIS WITH ICELAND. AT THIS TIME THE RELIEF OFFICER RETURNED TO THE COCKPIT FROM HIS REST BREAK. I DEPARTED THE COCKPIT FOR MY REST BREAK AS THE FO WAS SETTING UP A STEP CLB TO FL370 AT 40W. I REMINDED HIM TO INSERT THE RERTE AS WELL. I RETURNED TO THE COCKPIT LATER TO LEARN THAT THE FO HAD MISTAKENLY INSERTED DIRECT PRAWN AFTER 40W INSTEAD OF 50W. AT 1400Z GANDER QUESTIONED OUR POS. AFTER THE FO AND RELIEF OFFICER VERIFIED OUR POS WITH GANDER, WE WERE CLRED DIRECT TO 61N 50W, PRAWN, NAIN.
