Narrative:
I called in on unicom, 122.8 'entering traffic pattern on a right 45 degree for runway 31, right traffic, calaveras'. At 2315 ft I called on 122.8, 'calaveras traffic, entering right downwind runway 31, calaveras'. At approximately midfield an small aircraft X dove in front of us and in a steep left 75-90 degree bank passed below us as I pulled up. I had my landing light on from the time I entered the pattern on a right 45. I continued on at 2300 ft pattern altitude and landed without further incident. I tried to contact the small aircraft X twice by unicom 122.8, no answer. After the small aircraft landed I contacted the pilot.
