Narrative:
We were at 3000 MSL. New york TRACON advised us of traffic at 12 O'clock, 5 mi, head-on at 2500 ft MSL. Traffic may have climbed as we got TCASII RA to climb -- climbed to 3400 ft MSL to avoid traffic till we saw traffic at 12 O'clock and less than 1 mi. Advised ATC of TCASII maneuver.
