Narrative:
Using company procedures for single engine taxi I started out of the gate with sufficient speed to negotiate a tight turn out necessitated by the close proximity of a parked medium large transport at the adjacent gate. About 90 degree through our turn ground called and stopped us to let an large transport pass through our intended taxi route (diagram on back). This put us in the position of having our tail pointed toward the gate area and having to start our taxi motion from a dead stop in a turn requiring more power to start up then a straight ahead taxi requires. There was not space on the other parked aircraft to go out straight ahead. When we arrived in stl our load agent informed us of a message from sdf about damage to the jetway from jet blast. We didn't know about the damage till this time. We don't believe any damage would have occurred if we hadn't been stopped with our tail toward the terminal as we would have had to use only min power to continue our momentum. But the stop and starting in a turn required more power.

Narrative: USING COMPANY PROCS FOR SINGLE ENG TAXI I STARTED OUT OF THE GATE WITH SUFFICIENT SPD TO NEGOTIATE A TIGHT TURN OUT NECESSITATED BY THE CLOSE PROX OF A PARKED MLG AT THE ADJACENT GATE. THIS PUT US IN THE POS OF HAVING OUR TAIL POINTED TOWARD THE GATE AREA AND HAVING TO START OUR TAXI MOTION FROM A DEAD STOP IN A TURN REQUIRING MORE PWR TO START UP THEN A STRAIGHT AHEAD TAXI REQUIRES. THERE WAS NOT SPACE ON THE OTHER PARKED ACFT TO GO OUT STRAIGHT AHEAD. WHEN WE ARRIVED IN STL OUR LOAD AGENT INFORMED US OF A MESSAGE FROM SDF ABOUT DAMAGE TO THE JETWAY FROM JET BLAST.
