Narrative:
Pou tower cleared me for a wbound departure. This immediately put me in stuart international's arsa. There is uncertainty on my part if this meets ATC requirements for flight through the air traffic area or if new york approach/stuart should have been contacted. Pou approved frequency change approximately 15 mi from departure end of runway. This was not at my request. I continued through the arsa VFR in VMC conditions. No conflicts, near misses, etc took place. It is not clear under these circumstances whether pou tower communications constituted sufficient communication to transit the arsa. Pou ground was notified of my intent to climb wbound after takeoff. No instruction to contact approach/departure control was given. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter error admitted and cited his inexperience with operation in this area. First timer. Was under the illusion that the air traffic area was an arsa and that he would be given a handoff in a timely fashion. Reporter counseled on the airspaces and communication techniques in VFR flight. Use of charts and preflight planning covered.

Title: ERRONEOUS PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE.
Narrative: POU TWR CLRED ME FOR A WBOUND DEP. THIS IMMEDIATELY PUT ME IN STUART INTL'S ARSA. THERE IS UNCERTAINTY ON MY PART IF THIS MEETS ATC REQUIREMENTS FOR FLT THROUGH THE ATA OR IF NEW YORK APCH/STUART SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONTACTED. POU APPROVED FREQ CHANGE APPROX 15 MI FROM DEP END OF RWY. THIS WAS NOT AT MY REQUEST. I CONTINUED THROUGH THE ARSA VFR IN VMC CONDITIONS. NO CONFLICTS, NEAR MISSES, ETC TOOK PLACE. IT IS NOT CLR UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES WHETHER POU TWR COMS CONSTITUTED SUFFICIENT COM TO TRANSIT THE ARSA. POU GND WAS NOTIFIED OF MY INTENT TO CLB WBOUND AFTER TKOF. NO INSTRUCTION TO CONTACT APCH/DEP CTL WAS GIVEN. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR ERROR ADMITTED AND CITED HIS INEXPERIENCE WITH OP IN THIS AREA. FIRST TIMER. WAS UNDER THE ILLUSION THAT THE ATA WAS AN ARSA AND THAT HE WOULD BE GIVEN A HDOF IN A TIMELY FASHION. RPTR COUNSELED ON THE AIRSPACES AND COM TECHNIQUES IN VFR FLT. USE OF CHARTS AND PREFLT PLANNING COVERED.
