Narrative:

Under radar vectors to ewr at 7000 ft ATC called out traffic. Our TCASII alert sounded and shortly after a climb command was issued by TCASII. We climbed to approximately 7400 MSL. Alert was cancelled and we descended to original altitude of 7000 ft. Alert and action was reported to ATC controller and to company.

Narrative: UNDER RADAR VECTORS TO EWR AT 7000 FT ATC CALLED OUT TFC. OUR TCASII ALERT SOUNDED AND SHORTLY AFTER A CLB COMMAND WAS ISSUED BY TCASII. WE CLBED TO APPROX 7400 MSL. ALERT WAS CANCELLED AND WE DSNDED TO ORIGINAL ALT OF 7000 FT. ALERT AND ACTION WAS RPTED TO ATC CTLR AND TO COMPANY.
