Narrative:

Air carrier X was descending out of high altitude stratum to FL240, the aircraft called on frequency and I continued it's descent to cross 35 mi south of fwa VOR at 11000. Conflict alert activated and I told air carrier X to increase rate of descent and turn 25 degree left. I thought that this would miss aircraft Y I had at 14000 wbound from mfd to mie landing at ind. I got busy doing other tasks and when I realized that the turn was not enough it was too late to stop air carrier X descent at 15000 to maintain separation. Air carrier X was told to expedite it's descent to 13000 to try to maintain or regain separation. This did not work. The only thing I can see that would have been beneficial is that I should not have suppressed conflict alert. It would have kept me aware of the confliction still occurring.

Title: ACR X HAD LTSS FROM ACFT Y DURING DSCNT THROUGH OCCUPIED ALT. SYS ERROR.

Narrative: ACR X WAS DSNDING OUT OF HIGH ALT STRATUM TO FL240, THE ACFT CALLED ON FREQ AND I CONTINUED IT'S DSCNT TO CROSS 35 MI S OF FWA VOR AT 11000. CONFLICT ALERT ACTIVATED AND I TOLD ACR X TO INCREASE RATE OF DSCNT AND TURN 25 DEG L. I THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD MISS ACFT Y I HAD AT 14000 WBOUND FROM MFD TO MIE LNDG AT IND. I GOT BUSY DOING OTHER TASKS AND WHEN I REALIZED THAT THE TURN WAS NOT ENOUGH IT WAS TOO LATE TO STOP ACR X DSCNT AT 15000 TO MAINTAIN SEPARATION. ACR X WAS TOLD TO EXPEDITE IT'S DSCNT TO 13000 TO TRY TO MAINTAIN OR REGAIN SEPARATION. THIS DID NOT WORK. THE ONLY THING I CAN SEE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN BENEFICIAL IS THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE SUPPRESSED CONFLICT ALERT. IT WOULD HAVE KEPT ME AWARE OF THE CONFLICTION STILL OCCURRING.
