Narrative:

Offshore flow required use of runways 1R and 1L. Runup area is just short of hold short line for 1R, and 1L begins several thousand ft before 1R, thus requiring arrs to 1R to fly 15-20 degree intercept angle to point just short of touchdown zone for 1R. After runup, was told to switch to tower frequency appropriate for 1R -- did so and was told to hold short -- moved to hold short line -- faced 1R at approximately 45 degree angle. Next told to taxi into position and hold -- I repeated instructions and taxied to position just past end of runway, to permit plane holding on adjacent taxiway the opportunity to taxi behind me if required. Immediately upon taking position, what appeared to be an small aircraft Y appeared immediately overhead -- and then visibly struggled to institute a go around, at which point the tower instructed me to continue holding and the other aircraft was instructed to go around. Prevention: no matter how awkward -- even a 360 loop, never taxi onto an active runway without visually clearing.

NEXT TOLD TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD -- I REPEATED INSTRUCTIONS AND TAXIED TO POS JUST PAST END OF RWY, TO PERMIT PLANE HOLDING ON ADJACENT TAXIWAY THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAXI BEHIND ME IF REQUIRED. IMMEDIATELY UPON TAKING POS, WHAT APPEARED TO BE AN SMA Y APPEARED IMMEDIATELY OVERHEAD -- AND THEN VISIBLY STRUGGLED TO INSTITUTE A GAR, AT WHICH POINT THE TWR INSTRUCTED ME TO CONTINUE HOLDING AND THE OTHER ACFT WAS INSTRUCTED TO GAR. PREVENTION: NO MATTER HOW AWKWARD -- EVEN A 360 LOOP, NEVER TAXI ONTO AN ACTIVE RWY WITHOUT VISUALLY CLRING.
