Narrative:
We were vectored for a right turn into 26R and when we had the aircraft we were following for 26R and another in a left turn into 26L, were cleared for a visual 26R. We had about 4 mi spacing for 26R and the aircraft for 26L was lining slightly behind us. Our track to 26R was a slight angle from the right to allow more space or separation from the aircraft landing on 26L. At 800 ft AGL with landing clearance and aircraft configured for landing at 130 KTS and still just slightly right of centerline we got a TCASII RA. The TCASII said traffic was behind, slightly left and 200 ft below our aircraft. Just as we were getting the RA, tower was trying to tell us about the conflicting traffic. We followed the TCASII commands with a climb and also a slight right turn to avoid the conflicting aircraft and awaited instructions from the tower. Other aircraft was never sighted. We were not aware of any traffic landing on 25. We were also unable to determine where the conflicting aircraft came from. Supplemental information from acn 195685: with considerable congestion on the tower frequency. I called that we were going around due to a traffic conflict. At that point, tower said we were cutting out another aircraft on approach -- somewhere.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PARALLEL RWY OP AT DEN. FLC OF LGT HAD TCASII RA ON FOLLOWING TFC AND BROKE OFF APCH TO GAR CREATING CONFLICT WITH OVERHEAD TFC.
Narrative: WE WERE VECTORED FOR A R TURN INTO 26R AND WHEN WE HAD THE ACFT WE WERE FOLLOWING FOR 26R AND ANOTHER IN A L TURN INTO 26L, WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL 26R. WE HAD ABOUT 4 MI SPACING FOR 26R AND THE ACFT FOR 26L WAS LINING SLIGHTLY BEHIND US. OUR TRACK TO 26R WAS A SLIGHT ANGLE FROM THE R TO ALLOW MORE SPACE OR SEPARATION FROM THE ACFT LNDG ON 26L. AT 800 FT AGL WITH LNDG CLRNC AND ACFT CONFIGURED FOR LNDG AT 130 KTS AND STILL JUST SLIGHTLY R OF CENTERLINE WE GOT A TCASII RA. THE TCASII SAID TFC WAS BEHIND, SLIGHTLY L AND 200 FT BELOW OUR ACFT. JUST AS WE WERE GETTING THE RA, TWR WAS TRYING TO TELL US ABOUT THE CONFLICTING TFC. WE FOLLOWED THE TCASII COMMANDS WITH A CLB AND ALSO A SLIGHT R TURN TO AVOID THE CONFLICTING ACFT AND AWAITED INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE TWR. OTHER ACFT WAS NEVER SIGHTED. WE WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY TFC LNDG ON 25. WE WERE ALSO UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHERE THE CONFLICTING ACFT CAME FROM. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 195685: WITH CONSIDERABLE CONGESTION ON THE TWR FREQ. I CALLED THAT WE WERE GOING AROUND DUE TO A TFC CONFLICT. AT THAT POINT, TWR SAID WE WERE CUTTING OUT ANOTHER ACFT ON APCH -- SOMEWHERE.
