Narrative:
While being vectored on an extended downwind for runway 19 on the east side of ksdf over the river, we were issued VFR traffic at 3600 ft at our 12 O'clock position, 3 mi. We did not find the traffic visually and I requested a turn from approach. We were issued a left turn of 20 degrees. TCASII showed what the controller conformed, that the traffic was turning east and would pass off our right. Next we noticed the TCASII target encroaching our flight path projecting a loss of separation. TCASII issued a TA and then immediately issued an RA 'climb.' the crew responded and the copilot initiated a climb of 1500 FPM for 500 ft. TCASII downgraded to a 'monitor vertical speed', we leveled and then immediately descended to our original altitude of 4000 ft. We advised ATC as soon as possible of our deviation and there was no further discussion with ATC of the excursion. We did require the small aircraft visually just before the TA. He was doing 360 degree turns at approximately 30 degrees of bank.

Title: TA GIVEN, NOT SIGHTED. TCASII RA CLB TAKEN TO AVOID SMA MNV.
Narrative: WHILE BEING VECTORED ON AN EXTENDED DOWNWIND FOR RWY 19 ON THE E SIDE OF KSDF OVER THE RIVER, WE WERE ISSUED VFR TFC AT 3600 FT AT OUR 12 O'CLOCK POS, 3 MI. WE DID NOT FIND THE TFC VISUALLY AND I REQUESTED A TURN FROM APCH. WE WERE ISSUED A L TURN OF 20 DEGS. TCASII SHOWED WHAT THE CTLR CONFORMED, THAT THE TFC WAS TURNING E AND WOULD PASS OFF OUR R. NEXT WE NOTICED THE TCASII TARGET ENCROACHING OUR FLT PATH PROJECTING A LOSS OF SEPARATION. TCASII ISSUED A TA AND THEN IMMEDIATELY ISSUED AN RA 'CLB.' THE CREW RESPONDED AND THE COPLT INITIATED A CLB OF 1500 FPM FOR 500 FT. TCASII DOWNGRADED TO A 'MONITOR VERT SPD', WE LEVELED AND THEN IMMEDIATELY DSNDED TO OUR ORIGINAL ALT OF 4000 FT. WE ADVISED ATC AS SOON AS POSSIBLE OF OUR DEV AND THERE WAS NO FURTHER DISCUSSION WITH ATC OF THE EXCURSION. WE DID REQUIRE THE SMA VISUALLY JUST BEFORE THE TA. HE WAS DOING 360 DEG TURNS AT APPROX 30 DEGS OF BANK.
