Narrative:
While cruising at FL220 approximately 60 mi southeast of fargo VORTAC, a TA was received from TCASII. Subject traffic on TCASII at 2 O'clock, 6 mi, and 900 ft below. Approximately 1 min later when subject traffic was at 5 O'clock and 1.75 mi, we received an RA commanding a climb. We complied with the command to climb by placing the vertical speed needle in the green arc as depicted by TCASII at approximately 1500-2000 FPM. We accomplished a level off at FL225 and advised ATC (ZMP). Center indicated no traffic above us and that he had no problem with our complying with the TCASII RA. TCASII was written up in logbook after landing in fargo. TCASII placed on MEL as a precaution.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR MLG ALTDEV EXCURSION FROM CLRNC ALT IN RESPONSE TO TCASII RA.
Narrative: WHILE CRUISING AT FL220 APPROX 60 MI SE OF FARGO VORTAC, A TA WAS RECEIVED FROM TCASII. SUBJECT TFC ON TCASII AT 2 O'CLOCK, 6 MI, AND 900 FT BELOW. APPROX 1 MIN LATER WHEN SUBJECT TFC WAS AT 5 O'CLOCK AND 1.75 MI, WE RECEIVED AN RA COMMANDING A CLB. WE COMPLIED WITH THE COMMAND TO CLB BY PLACING THE VERT SPD NEEDLE IN THE GREEN ARC AS DEPICTED BY TCASII AT APPROX 1500-2000 FPM. WE ACCOMPLISHED A LEVEL OFF AT FL225 AND ADVISED ATC (ZMP). CENTER INDICATED NO TFC ABOVE US AND THAT HE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH OUR COMPLYING WITH THE TCASII RA. TCASII WAS WRITTEN UP IN LOGBOOK AFTER LNDG IN FARGO. TCASII PLACED ON MEL AS A PRECAUTION.
