Narrative:

Air carrier X flight had to take evasive action to avoid an air carrier Y aircraft. The event occurred on the deer park 300 degree radial at 20 NM, 6500 ft. Both aircraft were in contact with ATC. The air carrier X aircraft was given instructions by ATC to proceed direct to deer park at 6500 ft. The other aircraft was cleared to climb through our altitude and maintain visual separation with our aircraft. ATC had reported the air carrier Y aircraft to the air carrier X crew who kept the aircraft in sight. The air carrier Y aircraft climbed rapidly and changed headings towards the air carrier X aircraft. The air carrier X aircraft observed the aircraft coming toward them so as to cross their flight path at their altitude, at extremely close range. The air carrier X crew initiated a pull up and a right turn, changing heading by 30 degrees and altitude by 200 ft. The landing lights of the air carrier X aircraft were on and operating for several mins before the event. From their lights the aircraft on X the crew could read the painted words and symbols of the aircraft Y and see their landing lights reflecting on the passenger windows. Had no evasive action been taken, a midair collision would have occurred. I reported to ATC that the distance between the aircraft was 'too close for comfort.' ATC did not respond no my comment. I then switched off frequency to the next controling sector.

Narrative: ACR X FLT HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID AN ACR Y ACFT. THE EVENT OCCURRED ON THE DEER PARK 300 DEG RADIAL AT 20 NM, 6500 FT. BOTH ACFT WERE IN CONTACT WITH ATC. THE ACR X ACFT WAS GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS BY ATC TO PROCEED DIRECT TO DEER PARK AT 6500 FT. THE OTHER ACFT WAS CLRED TO CLB THROUGH OUR ALT AND MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION WITH OUR ACFT. ATC HAD RPTED THE ACR Y ACFT TO THE ACR X CREW WHO KEPT THE ACFT IN SIGHT. THE ACR Y ACFT CLBED RAPIDLY AND CHANGED HDGS TOWARDS THE ACR X ACFT. THE ACR X ACFT OBSERVED THE ACFT COMING TOWARD THEM SO AS TO CROSS THEIR FLT PATH AT THEIR ALT, AT EXTREMELY CLOSE RANGE. THE ACR X CREW INITIATED A PULL UP AND A R TURN, CHANGING HDG BY 30 DEGS AND ALT BY 200 FT. THE LNDG LIGHTS OF THE ACR X ACFT WERE ON AND OPERATING FOR SEVERAL MINS BEFORE THE EVENT. FROM THEIR LIGHTS THE ACFT ON X THE CREW COULD READ THE PAINTED WORDS AND SYMBOLS OF THE ACFT Y AND SEE THEIR LNDG LIGHTS REFLECTING ON THE PAX WINDOWS. HAD NO EVASIVE ACTION BEEN TAKEN, A MIDAIR COLLISION WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. I RPTED TO ATC THAT THE DISTANCE BTWN THE ACFT WAS 'TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT.' ATC DID NOT RESPOND NO MY COMMENT. I THEN SWITCHED OFF FREQ TO THE NEXT CTLING SECTOR.
