Narrative:

Small transport was being operated and maintained by a certificated repair station in accordance with FARS 61, 91 and 135. The heater was reported to be in compliance with the ad. The information provided to the flight crew by maintenance was incorrect. Maintenance had not been updating the hobbs hour meter reading which is located in the nose baggage compartment, with the maintenance printout. To prevent the recurrence, I feel that as a PIC, I should have been checking the heater total time myself to make sure it was being maintained properly.
