Narrative:
We were wbound to cbc VOR when maiquetia control advised us of traffic opposite direction 14 west of cbc VOR level at 19500 ft. We were at FL200. We had traffic on TCASII but no visual contact. As we approached cbc VOR ATC gave us a right turn to 295 degree and simultaneously we had a 'traffic traffic' advisory. As we started the turn we heard a 'climb' RA. At that moment we disconnected the autoplt and started to climb. At the same time ATC cleared us for lower and the other aircraft reported us in sight. At 20300 ft the RA terminated and we began to descend. I don't feel there was a real danger of a midair. ATC had us on radar and our TCASII confirmed the other aircraft reported altitude. However we did not have a visual and we followed SOP. Also in this case it seemed to be the safest move!

Title: CAPT OF WDB ACR ACFT CLBED ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT IN RESPONDING TO A TCASII RA.
Narrative: WE WERE WBOUND TO CBC VOR WHEN MAIQUETIA CTL ADVISED US OF TFC OPPOSITE DIRECTION 14 W OF CBC VOR LEVEL AT 19500 FT. WE WERE AT FL200. WE HAD TFC ON TCASII BUT NO VISUAL CONTACT. AS WE APCHED CBC VOR ATC GAVE US A R TURN TO 295 DEG AND SIMULTANEOUSLY WE HAD A 'TFC TFC' ADVISORY. AS WE STARTED THE TURN WE HEARD A 'CLB' RA. AT THAT MOMENT WE DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPLT AND STARTED TO CLB. AT THE SAME TIME ATC CLRED US FOR LOWER AND THE OTHER ACFT RPTED US IN SIGHT. AT 20300 FT THE RA TERMINATED AND WE BEGAN TO DSND. I DON'T FEEL THERE WAS A REAL DANGER OF A MIDAIR. ATC HAD US ON RADAR AND OUR TCASII CONFIRMED THE OTHER ACFT RPTED ALT. HOWEVER WE DID NOT HAVE A VISUAL AND WE FOLLOWED SOP. ALSO IN THIS CASE IT SEEMED TO BE THE SAFEST MOVE!
