Narrative:
During arrival to dfw on the scurry 2 arrival after reaching a descent altitude of 11000 ft approximately 33 NM northwest of scurry VOR on the 296 radial, our onboard TCASII system gave us a RA warning and a command to climb. I complied with the TCASII command and climbed to 11300 ft at which time the approaching climbing traffic was spotted. Immediately after level off at 11300 ft the TCASII commanded a descent and I descended to 11000 ft and all warnings ceased. Although the traffic apparently was in the warning envelope of the TCASII system, a reasonable clearance was always maintained and visual contact with the traffic caused no alarm.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR LGT RECEIVED A TCASII COMMAND TO CLB. IT CLBED 300 FT, THEN DSNDED TO IT'S ASSIGNED ALT. THE RPTRS DID NOT STATE WHETHER ATC HAD CALLED OUT THE TFC. THE OTHER ACFT WAS SEEN VISUALLY.
Narrative: DURING ARR TO DFW ON THE SCURRY 2 ARR AFTER REACHING A DSCNT ALT OF 11000 FT APPROX 33 NM NW OF SCURRY VOR ON THE 296 RADIAL, OUR ONBOARD TCASII SYS GAVE US A RA WARNING AND A COMMAND TO CLB. I COMPLIED WITH THE TCASII COMMAND AND CLBED TO 11300 FT AT WHICH TIME THE APCHING CLBING TFC WAS SPOTTED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEVEL OFF AT 11300 FT THE TCASII COMMANDED A DSCNT AND I DSNDED TO 11000 FT AND ALL WARNINGS CEASED. ALTHOUGH THE TFC APPARENTLY WAS IN THE WARNING ENVELOPE OF THE TCASII SYS, A REASONABLE CLRNC WAS ALWAYS MAINTAINED AND VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE TFC CAUSED NO ALARM.
