Narrative:
Was cleared by grr approach control for visual approach to runway 18. At PM54 was handed off to tower control and was cleared to land runway 18. There was traffic in a left hand pattern for runway 8L doing takeoffs and lndgs. Student was cleared to land runway 8L, but did a touch and go landing instead of a full stop. When my aircraft on runway 18 approach was #1, I was instructed by the tower controller to 'go around.' a go around was executed and was instructed by the tower controller to make right traffic for runway 8R. Conflict aircraft passed approximately 50-60 ft below my aircraft. There seemed to be a communication problem between the student pilot and tower controller on exactly what he was supposed to do.

Title: NMAC.
Narrative: WAS CLRED BY GRR APCH CTL FOR VISUAL APCH TO RWY 18. AT PM54 WAS HANDED OFF TO TWR CTL AND WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 18. THERE WAS TFC IN A L HAND PATTERN FOR RWY 8L DOING TKOFS AND LNDGS. STUDENT WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 8L, BUT DID A TOUCH AND GO LNDG INSTEAD OF A FULL STOP. WHEN MY ACFT ON RWY 18 APCH WAS #1, I WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE TWR CTLR TO 'GAR.' A GAR WAS EXECUTED AND WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE TWR CTLR TO MAKE R TFC FOR RWY 8R. CONFLICT ACFT PASSED APPROX 50-60 FT BELOW MY ACFT. THERE SEEMED TO BE A COM PROBLEM BTWN THE STUDENT PLT AND TWR CTLR ON EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.
