Narrative:
Flight was cruising in clear air (VMC) approximately 55 NM northwest of the lakeland VOR en route to west palm beach, fl. The first officer was flying the aircraft with the aid of the autoplt. The TCASII on the first officer's panel was selected to the normal elevator position and the 14 NM range. The TCASII issued a TA followed immediately by an RA accompanied by the aural alert 'climb- climb-climb.' additionally, the TCASII guidance on the vsi instructed a climb rate of 1500 to 2000 FPM. The first officer disconnected the autoplt and began an immediate climb to comply with the TCASII guidance. The TCASII issued a 'clear of conflict' message just as all crew members located the traffic visually, an air carrier medium large transport Y. The climb was stopped at 29700 ft. ATC was immediately advised of the altitude deviation and the first officer descended aircraft to the original clearance altitude of FL290.
