Narrative:
Cha was hosting an air show day of near miss. Small aircraft X being vectored for approach by cha approach control for ILS runway 20 at 4000 ft MSL. An small transport Y crossed my flight path directly below me crossing from left to right. Approach control was not prepared to handle volume of traffic into cha arsa, marginal VFR conditions existed and IFR and VFR traffic was converging. Additional personnel should be on hand working approach control in order to maintain smooth flow of traffic and allow adequate separation.

Title: SMA X HAD NMAC WITH SMT Y WHILE BEING RADAR VECTORED FOR ILS APCH. SEE AND AVOID CONCEPT.
Narrative: CHA WAS HOSTING AN AIR SHOW DAY OF NEAR MISS. SMA X BEING VECTORED FOR APCH BY CHA APCH CTL FOR ILS RWY 20 AT 4000 FT MSL. AN SMT Y CROSSED MY FLT PATH DIRECTLY BELOW ME XING FROM L TO R. APCH CTL WAS NOT PREPARED TO HANDLE VOLUME OF TFC INTO CHA ARSA, MARGINAL VFR CONDITIONS EXISTED AND IFR AND VFR TFC WAS CONVERGING. ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL SHOULD BE ON HAND WORKING APCH CTL IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN SMOOTH FLOW OF TFC AND ALLOW ADEQUATE SEPARATION.
