Narrative:
Our medium large transport was northbound VMC at FL280. Received initial TA aurally and on map. Indicated 1000 below us sbound climbing within 10 NM. Followed immediately by RA showing 700 ft below climbing and closing. 'Monitor vertical speed' aural followed as we leveled at 28500. ATC advised that our RA target was level FL270. No conflict or visual sighting occurred. Resumed FL280. No further events.
