Narrative:

While rolling out after a landing at a tower controled airport, I made a 180 degree turn to return to the nearest taxiway without getting a clearance from the tower. I did so to expedite clearing the runway for another approaching aircraft. No conflict with the other aircraft occurred except it had to go around. The tower informed me that I had to be cleared to do a 180 and had violated aircraft rules. Perhaps additional training in the form of local seminars could be done to review ATC procedure required at tower controled airports. This would help prevent other occurrences of this type.
