Narrative:
I was on a pleasure flight with my family in the bear lake area. My wife (who is pregnant) became motion sick, so I decided to land on the beach, where I knew other planes had previously landed. After touchdown, as I was rolling to a stop, my main gear broke through a sand crust into a wet clay layer and the aircraft rocked up onto it's nose, then came back down. The propeller and engine cowling were damaged in the process. Nothing in the landing procedure could have avoided this mishap. The mistake came in deciding to land on a surface which some degree of unknown about it. I should have landed at the closest airport.
