Narrative:
Upon receiving a clearance to taxi to the active runway, I proceeded along the specified route toward that runway. Due to various taxiway closings because of construction, getting to the runup area would require a backtaxi down the active runway. Immediately after rolling onto the active to backtaxi, I was advised by the ground controller that my clearance to taxi to the active did not also clear me to backtaxi on the active. I immediately performed a 180 degree turn and exited the runway. The factors contributing to this occurrence were: the construction which required unfamiliar and different procedures including the backtaxi, the untimely distraction of the pilot by a passenger asking a question about the flight and the ground controller not issuing a hold short reminder along with the taxi clearance. Actions that will prevent a reoccurrence of this type will include the asking for clarification of taxi instructions when unusual circumstances prevail, and the prevention of cockpit crewmembers being distracted by passenger when the aircraft is in motion.

Title: RWY INCURSION. UNAUTHORIZED RWY ENTRY OP.
Narrative: UPON RECEIVING A CLRNC TO TAXI TO THE ACTIVE RWY, I PROCEEDED ALONG THE SPECIFIED RTE TOWARD THAT RWY. DUE TO VARIOUS TAXIWAY CLOSINGS BECAUSE OF CONSTRUCTION, GETTING TO THE RUNUP AREA WOULD REQUIRE A BACKTAXI DOWN THE ACTIVE RWY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER ROLLING ONTO THE ACTIVE TO BACKTAXI, I WAS ADVISED BY THE GND CTLR THAT MY CLRNC TO TAXI TO THE ACTIVE DID NOT ALSO CLR ME TO BACKTAXI ON THE ACTIVE. I IMMEDIATELY PERFORMED A 180 DEG TURN AND EXITED THE RWY. THE FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO THIS OCCURRENCE WERE: THE CONSTRUCTION WHICH REQUIRED UNFAMILIAR AND DIFFERENT PROCS INCLUDING THE BACKTAXI, THE UNTIMELY DISTR OF THE PLT BY A PAX ASKING A QUESTION ABOUT THE FLT AND THE GND CTLR NOT ISSUING A HOLD SHORT REMINDER ALONG WITH THE TAXI CLRNC. ACTIONS THAT WILL PREVENT A REOCCURRENCE OF THIS TYPE WILL INCLUDE THE ASKING FOR CLARIFICATION OF TAXI INSTRUCTIONS WHEN UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES PREVAIL, AND THE PREVENTION OF COCKPIT CREWMEMBERS BEING DISTRACTED BY PAX WHEN THE ACFT IS IN MOTION.
