Narrative:
Taxiing for takeoff to runway 6 at roa, we rolled approximately 50 ft past the hold short line for runway 6. The hold short line is on taxiway east. East of taxiway J and adjacent to it is a sign stating, 'hold short line for runway 6 approximately 100 ft ahead.' the location of the hold short line combined with the '100 ft ahead' sign leads you to believe there is another hold short line ahead and that the one that we crossed is for aircraft departing from taxiway J. After the controller told us that we had crossed the runway 6 hold short line and to hold our position. I asked about the sign and he stated that they have problems with aircraft crossing the hold short line 'all the time' and that they have talked to the airport manager who they said is responsible for the sign and obviously has done nothing about it.

Title: RWY INCURSION. UNAUTH RWY ENTRY.
Narrative: TAXIING FOR TKOF TO RWY 6 AT ROA, WE ROLLED APPROX 50 FT PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 6. THE HOLD SHORT LINE IS ON TXWY E. E OF TXWY J AND ADJACENT TO IT IS A SIGN STATING, 'HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 6 APPROX 100 FT AHEAD.' THE LOCATION OF THE HOLD SHORT LINE COMBINED WITH THE '100 FT AHEAD' SIGN LEADS YOU TO BELIEVE THERE IS ANOTHER HOLD SHORT LINE AHEAD AND THAT THE ONE THAT WE CROSSED IS FOR ACFT DEPARTING FROM TXWY J. AFTER THE CTLR TOLD US THAT WE HAD CROSSED THE RWY 6 HOLD SHORT LINE AND TO HOLD OUR POS. I ASKED ABOUT THE SIGN AND HE STATED THAT THEY HAVE PROBS WITH ACFT XING THE HOLD SHORT LINE 'ALL THE TIME' AND THAT THEY HAVE TALKED TO THE ARPT MGR WHO THEY SAID IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SIGN AND OBVIOUSLY HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT.
