Narrative:

Inbound to and approximately 20 mins from bna I discussed with ATC options to avoid a line of thunderstorms. ATC advised me that 2 aircraft had just passed through the area they were vectoring us, with minor deviations and no complaints. The seat belt sign was on and flight attendants were advised 8 mins prior to incident to pick up and situation down due to possible turbulence. They were advised once more just prior to incident. The line of WX developed rapidly. We were level at FL240 and 280 KTS in the clear when we experienced severe turbulence for 2-3 seconds. The #2 flight attendant was injured at her left elbow. ATC was advised and requested priority handling. Our operations at bna was also advised and paramedics requested. Flight landed, normal procedures.
