Narrative:

After takeoff, runway heading, at 1000 ft MSL, first officer and I briefly observed something black strike radome right of center. #4 engine overtemped and was shut down. Applicable normal and abnormal checklists were accomplished and uneventful 3 engine landing was made at anchorage. Visual inspection of 4 engine revealed severe damage. Radome was cracked with blood smear. Feathers remained in portions of engine. Suspect a goose was ingested. Our training emphasizes, and we are vigilant for, engine failures at or after V1. This engine failure caught us off guard because we felt as though we had passed the critical phase.
