Narrative:
While climbing out of lga on the above stated radial we were notified of traffic at 11 O'clock, 15 mi, descending from 14500 ft. We replied 'negative contact' and continued to look for the traffic. The controller was busy with other aircraft on the frequency. At 11500 we observed a twin at our 9 O'clock position, at our altitude, in a hard right bank. He questioned the controller about it and he said it was a twin commuter aircraft -- that was all he said. We took no evasive action as it was obvious the aircraft would miss us. This could have been avoided if the controller could have kept us informed if he had time, but the density does not allow for this.
