Narrative:

During pwrback at mci gate, guideman signaled to start pwrback. He then gave signal to turn tail to my right and then stop turn and continue backing up. He then started to move toward the plane as if to keep pace with aircraft. As he was doing this, a jumpseat rider behind me stated one of the wingwalkers was waving his hands. I immediately brought aircraft into forward thrust and applied brakes, the guideman signaled me to move forward and brought me back to the gate. He plugged in his headset and informed me the aircraft hit something. Probable cause could have been from the angle the guideman was at, he could not have judged the aircraft's position relative to the vehicle that was hit.
