Narrative:
While #1 at the hold short line for runway 36 at national airport, we could not verify or find in the cockpit our pre departure clearance. The tower cleared us to position and hold on runway 36 which we did. We still could not locate the pre departure clearance so we advised tower that we needed to taxi off the runway to call our company. We called company to insure a pre departure clearance was received. It was, and we had them read us the pre departure clearance. We then got back in line for takeoff and an uneventful flight followed.
