Narrative:
On takeoff leg at approximately 3500 ft got a TCASII TA. Almost immediately thereafter, got RA commanding a steeper climb, simultaneously, departure control transmitted for us to level or maintain 4000 ft. RA directed 'monitor vertical speed' to increase climb rate and we passed 4500-4700 ft. We transmitted twice that we were following TCASII to avoid conflict (at approximately 4500 ft). Passing 5300 ft, TCASII gave 'clear of traffic.' subsequently found that departure control had cleared flight to descend to 3000 ft in direct conflict with our climb to 6000.

Title: CAPT OF ACR MLG ACFT OVERSHOT ASSIGNED CLB ALT RESPONDING TO A TCASII RA.
Narrative: ON TKOF LEG AT APPROX 3500 FT GOT A TCASII TA. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER, GOT RA COMMANDING A STEEPER CLB, SIMULTANEOUSLY, DEP CTL XMITTED FOR US TO LEVEL OR MAINTAIN 4000 FT. RA DIRECTED 'MONITOR VERT SPD' TO INCREASE CLB RATE AND WE PASSED 4500-4700 FT. WE XMITTED TWICE THAT WE WERE FOLLOWING TCASII TO AVOID CONFLICT (AT APPROX 4500 FT). PASSING 5300 FT, TCASII GAVE 'CLR OF TFC.' SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND THAT DEP CTL HAD CLRED FLT TO DSND TO 3000 FT IN DIRECT CONFLICT WITH OUR CLB TO 6000.
