Narrative:
Cleared by ZLC for ILS runway 18 jac. Level 15000 ft, 100 KTS over VOR. Approach had been briefed to descend to 12000 ft at quirt. When over jac established outbound on 005 degree radial in icing. We misread approach plate and started descent to 12000 ft prior to quirt intersection. Somewhat distracted by icing and desire to change altitude, but basically just screwed up. Center gave us an advisory call on our altitude and I immediately climbed back to 15000 ft. Remainder of approach was uneventful. Further review of approach plate left no doubt of my error. Attaboy for ATC's professionalism!
