Narrative:
On IFR SID off lax climbing to 2000 ft MSL departure called VFR traffic 11 O'clock concurrent with TCASII alert. While in turn to 220 degrees saw traffic and turned further southwest to pass behind small aircraft aircraft. The aircraft was reported at 2500 ft MSL, but due to rapid events/procedures/traffic watch/TCASII TA/ATC communication, etc, we went through 2000 ft MSL by 200 ft, thereby clearing VFR traffic. We recommend the floor of the VFR corridor west of lax be much higher to allow proper separation of traffic at such a busy/critical stage of flight.
