Narrative:
4 flight attendants: a, B, C, D. Flight attendants C and D came to cockpit prior to flight and advised me that they believed flight attendant B was drinking alcohol while on duty. I conferred with flight attendant B in the loading bridge and decided that while I could not be positive that she was drinking, there was enough evidence to warrant removing her from the crew. The aircraft was to travel from cle to lga. I advised flight attendant B of my decision and directed her to remain seated on the aft flight attendant jumpseat and to in no way participate in any activities as part of the crew. During the flight it occurred to me that I should not have allowed her to situation on the jumpseat, and I then advised the a flight attendant to remove her from the jumpseat and have her occupy a passenger seat, which she did.
