Narrative:
During departure climb from pbi we were on radar vectors in IMC with numerous thunderstorms in the vicinity. Departure controller was extremely busy. With a heavy circuit breaker showing dead ahead on our WX radar, captain tried (unsuccessfully) to get permission for a right turn to circumvent the storm and finally we turned approximately 10 degrees right for 1-2 mins to avoid severe WX. The controller became irate and told was that we were encroaching on ZMA airspace and next time maintain our heading when he was too busy to answer. This attitude is unsatisfactory.

Title: MLG DEVIATES FROM ASSIGNED HEADING DUE TO TSTMS AND COMES IN CLOSE PROX OF ARTCC SECTOR BOUNDARY.
Narrative: DURING DEP CLB FROM PBI WE WERE ON RADAR VECTORS IN IMC WITH NUMEROUS TSTMS IN THE VICINITY. DEP CTLR WAS EXTREMELY BUSY. WITH A HVY CB SHOWING DEAD AHEAD ON OUR WX RADAR, CAPT TRIED (UNSUCCESSFULLY) TO GET PERMISSION FOR A R TURN TO CIRCUMVENT THE STORM AND FINALLY WE TURNED APPROX 10 DEGS R FOR 1-2 MINS TO AVOID SEVERE WX. THE CTLR BECAME IRATE AND TOLD WAS THAT WE WERE ENCROACHING ON ZMA AIRSPACE AND NEXT TIME MAINTAIN OUR HEADING WHEN HE WAS TOO BUSY TO ANSWER. THIS ATTITUDE IS UNSATISFACTORY.
