Narrative:
On arrival at den the 2 pilots were diverted from a planned slc turn to a jackson, wy, turn with less than an hour to pushback. All procedures, approachs, and visual aids were reviewed as best as possible in the time allowed. Neither pilot had been to jac before. In the jac area we were cleared for the ILS runway 18 approach via dunoir/quint by ZLC. On making the left turn to intercept the localizer inbound, slc asked us our flight conditions and informed us we should be turning right for the procedure turn. We were in visual conditions, had the runway in sight and were then cleared for a visual approach. The landing was uneventful with no traffic conflicts. We were admonished by slc to always do the procedure turn. I have not done a procedure turn during air carrier operations for more than 5 yrs, but I will always ask in the future.

Title: MLG ON APCH OVERLOOKS PROC TURN. ATC CALLS TO THEIR ATTN.
Narrative: ON ARR AT DEN THE 2 PLTS WERE DIVERTED FROM A PLANNED SLC TURN TO A JACKSON, WY, TURN WITH LESS THAN AN HR TO PUSHBACK. ALL PROCS, APCHS, AND VISUAL AIDS WERE REVIEWED AS BEST AS POSSIBLE IN THE TIME ALLOWED. NEITHER PLT HAD BEEN TO JAC BEFORE. IN THE JAC AREA WE WERE CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY 18 APCH VIA DUNOIR/QUINT BY ZLC. ON MAKING THE L TURN TO INTERCEPT THE LOC INBOUND, SLC ASKED US OUR FLT CONDITIONS AND INFORMED US WE SHOULD BE TURNING R FOR THE PROC TURN. WE WERE IN VISUAL CONDITIONS, HAD THE RWY IN SIGHT AND WERE THEN CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH. THE LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL WITH NO TFC CONFLICTS. WE WERE ADMONISHED BY SLC TO ALWAYS DO THE PROC TURN. I HAVE NOT DONE A PROC TURN DURING ACR OPS FOR MORE THAN 5 YRS, BUT I WILL ALWAYS ASK IN THE FUTURE.
