Narrative:
Returning from sbs to den in an mdt with 3200 pounds fuel. We were given a long hold and decided to divert to our alternate. I chose to go to fnl because it was closer and decided it was okay to land there because we were empty. Fnl cannot handle part 121 aircraft because of a lack of fire equipment. We use fnl as a training airport and based on that I landed there believing we were operating under part 91. I since learned that we have to be dispatched under 91 to land under part 91.
