Narrative:
Upon entering right downwind for runway 33 at addison, another aircraft advised tower that he had just had another airplane just miss him. My instructor and I knew that he must have been talking about us. We both eventually found the high wing aircraft at our 6 O'clock and slightly below our altitude. While both of us had been looking while we entered the pattern, we never saw the other aircraft until he was at our 6 O'clock. We were between 100 and 200 ft high when we entered the pattern. Had we been any lower, we would have hit the other aircraft. Tower was very busy and did not tell us about the other aircraft until we were well clear of him.
