Narrative:

I was flying with a student pilot and an observer in the back seat. I was correcting the student on a few mistakes here and there, and he was very hesitant on procedures since it was his first night flight. I was cleared for takeoff on runway 27L which is adjacent to runway 22 (the thresholds are about 100 ft apart). As we were taxiing to the runway the passenger alerted me of an aircraft that was landing near us. I looked back and noticed that the aircraft was doing a practice missed approach and wouldn't be a factor. By the time I looked forward we were already aligned with the runway. With all these distrs, I didn't check the directional gyroscope or compass. Another factor was that runway 4/22 had been closed for months and had just opened about 2 days before. I wasn't used to thinking the 2 thresholds were close to each other.
