Narrative:
Huntington and charleston FSS recently combined their operational facilities at elkins, wv. Within the last week, 5 or 6 pilots reported trouble getting a hold of this facility (elkins) for flight plan or WX information. These occurred within 30-40 mi from huntington tri-state airport, wv. This problem possibly exists due to the new operating procedures. Also, the possible location of radio sites to receive and transmit between pilots and FSS specialists. This problem can also, and most probably will, contribute to an increased workload to radar approach control facilities as well as terminals.
