Narrative:
Upon descending into ord, we failed to reset altimeter out of 18000 ft. We leveled off at 11000 ft. Local altitude setting was 30.18. Altitude was 250 ft off because of erroneous setting. Cockpit environment was busy getting changeover, making crossing restrictions, tuning FMS for approachs and runway. Something so basic overlooked on fast descent and complex computer automation.
