Narrative:
Flight was cleared for takeoff on runway 22L at mdw. Taxiing onto the runway the throttles were advanced for a rolling taxi off. When 1.4 EPR (power check) was reached the takeoff warning horn sounded. The airplane was slowly rolling down the runway, throttles were retarded and the flaps, stabilizer trim and speed brake were confirmed in the takeoff confign. The tower was informed we were exiting the runway. They asked if we had a problem. We responded that we were checking a warning horn. The flaps, stabilizer trim and speed brake were again verified to be in the takeoff confign. The tower asked if we would be returning to the ramp or taxiing back for takeoff. We replied that we would taxi back for takeoff. Cleared for takeoff, the throttles were advanced to 1.4 EPR. The takeoff warning horn did not sound. Takeoff was made and flight completed without incident.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: TKOF ABORTED WHEN TKOF WARNING HORN SOUNDS.
Narrative: FLT WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 22L AT MDW. TAXIING ONTO THE RWY THE THROTTLES WERE ADVANCED FOR A ROLLING TAXI OFF. WHEN 1.4 EPR (PWR CHK) WAS REACHED THE TKOF WARNING HORN SOUNDED. THE AIRPLANE WAS SLOWLY ROLLING DOWN THE RWY, THROTTLES WERE RETARDED AND THE FLAPS, STABILIZER TRIM AND SPD BRAKE WERE CONFIRMED IN THE TKOF CONFIGN. THE TWR WAS INFORMED WE WERE EXITING THE RWY. THEY ASKED IF WE HAD A PROB. WE RESPONDED THAT WE WERE CHKING A WARNING HORN. THE FLAPS, STABILIZER TRIM AND SPD BRAKE WERE AGAIN VERIFIED TO BE IN THE TKOF CONFIGN. THE TWR ASKED IF WE WOULD BE RETURNING TO THE RAMP OR TAXIING BACK FOR TKOF. WE REPLIED THAT WE WOULD TAXI BACK FOR TKOF. CLRED FOR TKOF, THE THROTTLES WERE ADVANCED TO 1.4 EPR. THE TKOF WARNING HORN DID NOT SOUND. TKOF WAS MADE AND FLT COMPLETED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
