Narrative:

Normal descent into cvg area. WX was 6000 ft overcast. While on vectors from cvg, at 8000 ft, we noticed traffic level at 12 O'clock on our TCASII display. Shortly we received a TA and RA on TCASII calling for immediate descent. We followed TCASII descent to 7500 ft and advised ATC. We were told that traffic was an large transport and we were then given a descent and new heading. We don't know how close we came to this other aircraft due to being in WX but feel that TCASII saved us from potential disaster.
