Narrative:
While on approach at 4000 ft a TCASII TA occurred. When visual contact was made with the traffic, TCASII issued an RA to descend. While descending we contacted ATC to advise them we were departing our assigned altitude and they approved. At approximately 3800 the RA ceased. The other aircraft appeared to be a small high wing type which seemed to be maneuvering at approximately 4500 ft.
