Narrative:
Running in of fresh engine after overhaul. En route lincoln to marysville/yuba area in round way to sacramento. Cruising 2500 ft without reference to charts or navaids. Simply forgot about arsa until after landing at sacramento. Concentration on engine performance in addition to traffic watch. Later reference to chart revealed that penetration of arsa probable. Corrective action is to be more aware of stumbling blocks FAA puts in our way.
