Narrative:
Flying the visual approach to runway 18R at dfw we received a TA on our TCASII inside the marker. We were backing the approach up by the ILS/DME 18R. It was a short final. We intercepted the localizer about 3-4 mi outside the marker. It was a busy approach for me as the PNF in the medium large transport. Configure the airplane, switch to tower, and look for traffic. This all taking place just outside or at the marker. While slowing and configuring to our landing flaps we got a TA below us. My attention then went to locating the traffic because we were descending on the glide path inside the marker. It appeared the traffic was over the highway below us. TCASII altitude showed the TA just above AGL. I never saw the aircraft, tower did not report it either. The FAA operations examiner said he thought he saw a helicopter or it must have been a helicopter (he was on the jump seat). We continued the approach because it never resulted in a TCASII RA. The rest of the before landing checklist was accomplished in a hurry by memory. The bottom line is that the TA distracted us on final. Being in VMC helped. If it had been in IMC it could have caused further concern.

Title: MLG HAS TCASII TA ON ILS APCH.
Narrative: FLYING THE VISUAL APCH TO RWY 18R AT DFW WE RECEIVED A TA ON OUR TCASII INSIDE THE MARKER. WE WERE BACKING THE APCH UP BY THE ILS/DME 18R. IT WAS A SHORT FINAL. WE INTERCEPTED THE LOC ABOUT 3-4 MI OUTSIDE THE MARKER. IT WAS A BUSY APCH FOR ME AS THE PNF IN THE MLG. CONFIGURE THE AIRPLANE, SWITCH TO TWR, AND LOOK FOR TFC. THIS ALL TAKING PLACE JUST OUTSIDE OR AT THE MARKER. WHILE SLOWING AND CONFIGURING TO OUR LNDG FLAPS WE GOT A TA BELOW US. MY ATTN THEN WENT TO LOCATING THE TFC BECAUSE WE WERE DSNDING ON THE GLIDE PATH INSIDE THE MARKER. IT APPEARED THE TFC WAS OVER THE HWY BELOW US. TCASII ALT SHOWED THE TA JUST ABOVE AGL. I NEVER SAW THE ACFT, TWR DID NOT RPT IT EITHER. THE FAA OPS EXAMINER SAID HE THOUGHT HE SAW A HELI OR IT MUST HAVE BEEN A HELI (HE WAS ON THE JUMP SEAT). WE CONTINUED THE APCH BECAUSE IT NEVER RESULTED IN A TCASII RA. THE REST OF THE BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST WAS ACCOMPLISHED IN A HURRY BY MEMORY. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THE TA DISTRACTED US ON FINAL. BEING IN VMC HELPED. IF IT HAD BEEN IN IMC IT COULD HAVE CAUSED FURTHER CONCERN.
