Narrative:
On vectoring for mill visual runway 28R at pdx, an small aircraft appeared at 1 O'clock passing to 11 O'clock same altitude with less than 100 ft horizontal separation. Our altitude approximately 4000 ft descending to 3000 ft. Aircraft on autoplt initiated violent climbing right turn to miss traffic. No traffic given by ATC. Near miss reported to pdx approach. Landing completed uneventfully. 2 flight attendants injured while performing cabin check at time of maneuver.
