Narrative:

My copilot and I crewed flight from grr to ind. We taxied out for takeoff, completed the taxi checklist, received clearance to takeoff, and took the runway. I was the PF. I advanced the power levers forward and first officer trimmed the power to takeoff torque. At 70 KTS I transitioned from the tiller to the yoke with my left hand. First officer made the call '70 KTS checks ok.' we continued down the runway and at V1 the right main tire failed and the aircraft headed for the grass parallel to the runway. I started abort procedures and first officer yelled 'abort.' I brought both power levers into full reverse and applied braking. The aircraft was almost uncontrollable and I could not keep it on the runway. We came to a stop off the runway (8R) and I shut down both engines. First officer completed the passenger evacuate/evacuation. None of the 8 passenger were injured. I feel I made the right decision to abort the takeoff and did so to the best of my ability.
